8th FabLab
The launch of the 8th FabLab in the Republic of Moldova recently took place at “Mihai Eminescu” Theoretical Lyceum in Ungheni, Republic of Moldova, on March 10, 2026.
The event brought together students, teachers, government officials, and international development partners, including representatives of the Ministry of Education and Research, the United Kingdom, and Sweden.
The new digital fabrication space was created to strengthen STEAM education through practical learning, innovation, and creativity.
During the visit, students guided guests through the laboratory and demonstrated robotics, 3D printing, electronics, programmable devices, and educational drone projects.
The FabLab is equipped with advanced technologies such as 3D printers, a laser cutter, robotics kits, microcontrollers, and modular furniture for collaborative work.
The laboratory was established through the Innovate Moldova Programme, financed by Sweden and the United Kingdom, with additional support from the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund for digital science equipment.
This new space allows learners to design, build, and test real prototypes while developing future-ready skills.
The opening of the FabLab marked another important step in the modernization of education in the Republic of Moldova.
