AI Guide for Teachers

The Finnish FCLab network published an artificial intelligence guide for teachers in collaboration with Finnish Teachers Training School Network eNorssi. The guide is free to use by any school and is shared via eNorssi portal.

The teacher's AI guide offers teachers a small and concise information package on the key issues of generative artificial intelligence and several practical case examples related to teachers’ work. For example, there’s a case of planning a visit to a local museum with the help of AI and a case of how to teach pupils to use AI as a personal tutor when reviewing for an exam.

AI Policies in Education

Multiple AI workshops focused on AI policies in education are being organized in FCLab Helsinki during the autumn 2024 in collaboration with Ms. Annie Webster from the University of Sydney. Pupils and students from lower and upper secondary school have attended these AI workshops prototyping a sustainable future.

The workshops’ first part is an introduction phase where learners familiarise themselves with different aspects of AI and then ponder specific advantages and ethical questions regarding the use of AI. Each group focuses on a single case, creates a poster of the case and showcases their thinking to other groups. In the second part learners vision their future and then create mind maps about AI policies in education. They need to think about what educators and policy makers would need to know about AI and what are the key things about AI to create a sustainable and ethical future.
