Portugal Launches New MOOC: Active Learning Scenarios in Digital Education Labs
The Directorate-General for Education (DGE) in Portugal is excited to announce the launch of a brand-new MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) titled “Digital Education Labs: Active Learning Scenarios”. This free, online course aims to empower teachers and educational professionals by helping them integrate cutting-edge technology into their classrooms through the Digital Education Labs (LED) initiative.
Starting on September 30, 2024, and running until December 16, 2024, this course offers participants a unique opportunity to explore how Digital Education Labs can be used to enhance practical classroom activities across various subjects. The MOOC focuses on leveraging advanced equipment such as 3D printers, robotics kits, and multimedia tools to promote essential learning outcomes and develop competencies outlined in the National Student Profile.
This training is part of a broader teacher capacity-building strategy, designed to ensure that Digital Education Labs become a reality in schools across the country. The LED initiative is currently installing 1,300 laboratories in primary and secondary schools in Portugal, as part of the Investment Plan for the Digital Transition in Education. Schools selected equipment related to STEM, Arts and Multimedia, and Programming and Robotics, according to their specific needs and educational priorities.
Participants will reflect on how the LED resources can be applied to create engaging and innovative learning environments. The course is open to teachers of all subjects and school levels, school leaders, and anyone interested in improving digital education practices.
Whether you're new to the world of digital education or looking to deepen your understanding of how technology can transform teaching and learning, this MOOC provides practical insights and guidance for all.
