Game on Educator’s Day 2025: bridging formal and non-formal education through play
Every year, the Game On Educator’s Day brings together teachers, trainers, and youth workers from across Luxembourg to exchange ideas and practices around game-based learning. Co-organised by Game On, the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth (MENJE), and the National Institute for Teacher Training (IFEN), the event has become a key platform for promoting the educational value of play and for building stronger connections between formal and non-formal learning environments.
The 2025 edition, taking place on October 30th at Rotondes, will once again highlight the diversity and creativity of the local and international community. The programme combines hands-on workshops, interactive talks, escape games, and a game café, offering participants the opportunity to experience and discuss how playful approaches can enhance motivation, collaboration, and engagement in both classrooms and youth spaces.
A central idea running through the sessions is that games are not merely tools, but catalysts for experiential learning and social connection. From analogue board games to digital worlds, participants will explore how game design principles can foster autonomy, curiosity, and inclusive participation.
Within IFEN’s F.use – Future Space for Education, game-based learning is one of the main focus areas shaping innovative learning environments. The Educator’s Day therefore plays an important role in this broader reflection, linking research, training, and practice while encouraging educators to rethink how learning can be designed around play, creativity, and discovery.
By connecting professionals from both sectors, Game On Educator’s Day continues to demonstrate that play is more than entertainment, it is a powerful bridge between learners, educators, and contexts, and a vital ingredient for the future of education.
