FCLabs Visit to Oslo
The FCLab delegation embarked on a stimulating visit to Oslo, where they explored a variety of innovative educational and technological initiatives.
Fellesverkstedet: A Collaborative Hub The journey began at Fellesverkstedet, a non-profit Maker space that fosters creativity and entrepreneurship. This collaborative hub impressed the delegation with its efficient use of space, sustainable funding model, and strong community focus. The shared access to tools and support for diverse projects highlighted the power of resource-sharing and collaboration.
Innovative Learning at Bogstad School and AI Solutions in Education The second day of the visit offered a deeper dive into educational innovation. At Bogstad School, the delegation witnessed a vibrant learning environment characterized by student-centered approaches, creativity, and teamwork. The school’s “pyjama day” underscored its strong sense of community and collaborative spirit.
Simultaneously, another group explored the integration of AI in education at the Education Department and Katedralskolen. KI Osloskolen, a GDPR-compliant AI solution, was showcased as a valuable tool for both teachers and students. Katedralskolen demonstrated how AI can seamlessly complement traditional teaching methods, enhancing the learning experience.
Maker Pedagogy in Action The delegation’s visit to MET Maker Space provided insights into the application of advanced technologies in higher education. University students were actively engaged in diverse projects, utilizing 3D printers, laser cutters, and other cutting-edge tools.
The final day of the visit took the group to Gjerdrum School, where they observed students engaged in maker, robotics, and programming activities. The creative use of Micro:bit tools and project-based learning to build Bubble:bit robots left a lasting impression.
