Schools Senza Zaino meet Future Classroom Lab by European Schoolnet
On September 6 and 7, 2024, an important training meeting was held at the Comprehensive Institute of Leno, organised by the Ic Leno, which serves as the reference school for the province of Brescia for Scuole Senza Zaino. The event was attended by a strong representation from Schools across other provinces in Lombardy, drawing an audience of about 200 school leaders and teachers.
The meeting, titled “Beyond the Classroom: A School Where Spaces Educate and Guide and Materials Teach,” featured FCL ambassador Massimo Belardinelli, who presented the Future Classroom Lab of European Schoolnet approach. It was an opportunity to introduce the FCL research to Lombard schools involved in the significant movement of Scuole Senza Zaino, which includes over 300 educational institutions and is one of the most important and active innovative networks of schools in Italy.
During the two-day event, speakers conducted workshops and presented operational tools to transform learning environments by integrating technology and creating materials aimed at active and experiential learning.
There was considerable interest among participants in the easy applicability of the FCL approach for transforming historic school buildings, which make up over 80% of schools in Italy. By utilising connective spaces (like atriums and hallways), it is possible to organise multiple educational experiences for students every day, enhancing their motivation and learning outcomes.
The opportunity to take a virtual tour of the spaces in Brussels was also presented, showcasing the state of the art in digital technologies applied to support education. In the workshops, teachers were able to actively transform some spaces to create transmedia learning environments, enabling students to use innovative digital technologies for teaching while also enhancing relationships and maintaining a strong connection with the real world.
