Activities of the FCL network in Norway

On September 6 and 7, 2024, an important training meeting was held at the Comprehensive Institute of Leno, organised by the Ic Leno, which serves as the reference school for the province of Brescia for Scuole Senza Zaino. The event was attended by a strong representation from Schools across other provinces in Lombardy, drawing an audience of about 200 school leaders and teachers. 

The Future Classroom Lab network within Teacher Education continues the work to support teacher educators and teachers in many different schools from the north to the south of Norway.

On September 13, 2024, the Ministry of Education presented Report to the Storting No. 34 (2023-2024), "A More Practical School: Better Learning, Motivation, and Well-Being in Grades 5–10," to the Norwegian Parliament. In recent years, there has been a negative trend in schools with declining learning outcomes, decreased motivation, lower well-being, and increased bullying and absenteeism. With this report, the government aims to develop a more practical school where students learn more, are more motivated, and thrive better. Our network will give support. All our FCLs will work hard and cooperate closely to develop all kinds of examples where we create activities that engage students through a great variety of practical assignments. For instance, on the 18th of September, the Didactic Digital Future Classroom Lab of Stavanger arranged a workshop combining outdoor education and the use of digital treasure hunts, cooperating with several municipalities and schools in the southwest of Norway.

Coming up is the annual KnowHow EdTech Conference in Stavanger on the 30th of October. KnowHow EdTech is a conference and website on educational technology organized by the department of e-learning (NETTOP-UiS) at the University of Stavanger. The University of Stavanger delivers Nordic Edge Expo’s entire conference programme on educational technology and is also a member of the Nordic Edge cluster. Didactic Digital Future Classroom Lab will join in also this year.
