HappyNews – A World of Good News, From Children to Children!

HappyNews is the world’s most joyful news channel, where children themselves take on the role of reporters. Schoolchildren from across the globe create short, uplifting video stories about the small and big joys of everyday life. These might be moments such as the opening of a new village library, spotting the first ladybird of spring, or a heart-warming encounter with someone especially kind. Every story is shared on the platform to spread happiness among children everywhere.

Why is HappyNews a wonderful idea?

Good feelings are contagious and have the power to spread. The world is full of news channels chasing clicks with negative, fear-inducing headlines, making bad news the norm while positive stories are becoming increasingly rare. Children are exposed to this, no matter what we do.

HappyNews aims to provide a positive alternative: a place where children learn media skills in an inspiring way, are encouraged to think positively, and are guaranteed a smile. Local happy news stories transcend borders and turn into international moments of joy. At the same time, children discover different cultures, customs, and languages, experiencing what it means to be part of a global community. In this way, good news becomes the new normal!

How does HappyNews work in practice?

Children record a short video news story, up to four minutes, about something good in their lives or communities. With a teacher’s help, they submit their video to the HappyNews community. Once published, the video appears on a map, allowing everyone visiting the site to see where each happy story comes from. Each video includes automatic subtitles, available in multiple languages, meaning anyone around the world can enjoy the story – and perhaps even pick up some new language skills along the way.

Technology serves the content – not the other way round

The service is easy to use on both mobile devices and computers. Video subtitles and translations into different languages are handled automatically by AI, making it easy and natural for children everywhere to follow along. Every piece of content is checked and moderated before publishing, ensuring the environment remains safe and welcoming for children at all times.

What’s in it for your school?

HappyNews offers schools an easy and inspiring way to make media education a natural part of teaching. Pupils practise video production, storytelling and communication skills in a positive, secure environment. At the same time, schools gain visibility on the global map, showing how their students are sharing good vibes internationally. All this happens with safe, child-friendly tools that are simple for both teachers and pupils to use.

The concept and structure will be developed actively and expertly throughout the school year 2025-2026, initially with a pilot group. As soon as safety and reliability are confirmed after the testing phase, the activity will be opened up to schools globally.

We Challenge You!

We invite all schools, pupils, and FCL (Future Classroom Lab) units across Europe: Join us in creating and sharing uplifting news content! Let’s build a wave of positivity that reaches every corner of the continent – one delightful story at a time. More information will be shared soon...
